Used Car Buyers Guide

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires that car dealers who sell more than 5 used cars in one year must comply with the Used Car Rule. The car dealers must prepare and display a Buyers Guide before the used car is offered for sale. The FTC explains how to prepare and display the Buyers Guide.

The Buyers Guide discloses very important purchase and warranty information, for example, whether the vehicle is being sold “as is” or with a warranty and what percentage of the repair costs the dealer will pay under that warranty. The Buyers Guide also summarizes the systems covered under the car warranty and the length of that warranty. The back or second page of the Buyers Guide lists the major mechanical and electrical systems on the car and suggests what a buyer or an independent mechanic should inspect prior to buying the vehicle. The Buyers Guide must be posted in plain view, and both sides must be visible. It can be hung from the rear-view mirror inside the car, placed under a windshield wiper, or attached to a side window inside the car.

Buyers Guides are part of our Car Dealer Websites integrated platform. They are a FREE service for all our customers. You can print Buyers Guide for any vehicles with our simple interface. You can select if a vehicle will be sold “as is” or with a warranty, what systems are covered and for how long. Vehicle information and your dealership information are added automatically. It will only take you a minute or two to print our professional Buyers Guide. Each Guide has two pages – front and back.
